Train 4 Work

Action Support “Train4Work” project supports people who are furthest from the jobs market into work, whether that be 2 hours to 37 hours a week, voluntary, or paid. We provide TAILORED training for our candidates and monitor individual progress. Over 100 people have successfully completed the scheme which enables them to be “work ready” and able to engage with developed practical skills. in a range of practical employability skills as diverse as learning retail and customer service skills, furniture restoration and repair, bike repair, gardening, DIY and decorating . More than anything our scheme builds up “soft skills” such as confidence, sociability and motivation to function successfully in the wider job market. We help with CVs, interview skills and job applications and provide a foundation for self-sufficiency with starting a career.

We also maintain gardens for customers to give our supervised trainees experience, so if yours need doing, please contact us for further information. The majority of our current intake are aged 17 to 45 and many are learning to overcome learning, mental health and physical difficulties in their quest to enter mainstream employment.

Our main criteria for entry onto the programme is that people WANT to WORK, Supervision is by trained staff who empathise with the difficulties individuals face.

Apart from the above benefits in practical transferable skills, the important “soft skills” such as confidence, motivation, self esteem and working as part of a group come through being on the programme. We wish to develop our network of both referrers and disability aware employers who can offer both work experience and paid or voluntary opportunities. The project has grown in small steps over 6 years with staged projects to get us to where we currently are.

If you would like to support this very worthwhile project by making a donation, please do so through our local giving website UK tax payers also give us the benefit of gift aid.

If any referrers or local employers in a Northampton would like to know more then please contact us.
